The Best Community Gatherings for Twin Cities Creatives
Hey friends! So I've been slowly discovering all these awesome communities in the Minneapolis/St. Paul area for Twin Cities creatives, bloggers and small business owners. I thought I would pull together a list of meetups and I reached out to people involved with the groups for quotes.
My Friend Katie, from KatieLookingForward.com, wrote a blog post about Networking opportunities in a blog post last August. That post inspired me to continue to look for opportunities for creatives to connect and meet. I asked Katie what she loved about being involved in the MN Blogging and Creative community and she said "I love the MN blogging community because of the people behind the profile photos. Some of the "big names" have the best personalities, and I really appreciate their friendships especially considering my desire to remain a "for fun" blogger instead of "for profit." I agree with the idea that we need to meet and connect with people we connect with online IRL to further our blog and make new friends! I've found 10 different groups (all with upcoming events!) that creatives, bloggers, entrepreneurs and just fun people can join in!
Minneapolis-based Social Media, Branding and PR pro, Kayla Hollatz launched her own twitter chat and it now has become one of the most popular amongst creatives. It happens at 7:00PM on Wednesdays on Twitter. You can sign up for her newsletter to get the questions in advance. I've seen many locals as well as people from across the globe join the community. It's a great way if you are more introverted and would like some new twitter friends! You can join the local FB group here
We are a Twitter chat community of fierce creative bloggers and entrepreneurs passionate about sharing our expertise and encouraging one another in our passion projects. Topics include blogging, branding, business, social media, community building, the creative process, and more. -Kayla Hollatz, of #createlounge
I recently discovered girl.creative after stumbling upon them on Instagram. They do monthly gatherings for creatives at different places in the cities and connect with new brands and other creatives.
You can check out their facebook here
Social Media Breakfast
Social Media Breakfast was the first place that I started meeting and discovering all these groups. They meet every month on Friday mornings where there is breakfast (including the popular bacon!) and awesome speakers talk about social media in different contexts. Next month, is meeting at one of my places of employment, Lifetime Fitness! My favorite part? The live tweeting!

The Rising Tide Society Tuesdays Together
The Rising Tide Society is a group that connects creatives with each other on Twitter, Instagram and their popular Facebook Group. They have monthly get togethers in cities across america and they recently launched in Minneapolis!. These are in the morning, so it is geared towards SBOs and Entrepreneurs who don't have full time jobs.
Tuesday's Together is a nationwide initiative for creative small business owners to connect and learn together. The core value of this group is to embrace community over competition, by sharing our knowledge with others and being excited about others succeeding. My name is Crystal, I am the owner of Crystal's Photography located in Cambridge Minnesota. -Crystal Blackledge, leader for the Blaine Tuesday's Together Group (update: now defunct-has switched to Minneapolis)
MN Blogger Conference
Minnesota's best conference for bloggers is coming up soon! Unfortunately this event is sold out for 2015 but there is a waitlist! I'm so excited to be a guest speaker at the conference this year on the topic "YouTube 101 for Bloggers". You can follow along on SM if you can't make it on November 14th, but make sure to grab tickets for next years when they come out next summer!
Wow! #mnblogcon is sold out! Can't wait to speak in November!! You can join the wait list if you missed tickets. So #excited A photo posted by Jenna Redfield (@jennaredfield) on Sep 24, 2015 at 10:05am PDT
Social Roadtrip is a movement grown out of a joke on twitter between a few Social Media experts, saying they want to road trip around the country meeting twitter friends. This joke turned into something quite real and the first #SocialRoadtrip happened a few months ago in Washington, DC. They have made a FB group as well as a weekly twitter chat talking about travel. I realized there were quite a few people in the group from Minneapolis so we all decided to meet and have dinner together. It was so much fun!

"Social Road Trip connects people interested in social media to give them the opportunity to meet in real life. People can post where they're traveling in the Facebook group, and they have a twitter chat Sundays at 7:45pm CST"-Laura VanZandt, blogger at 1Girl2Cities.
Laura is also starting a Twin Cities based Twitter chat. Here's the link. "TCTalk – 8pm Monday: Everything Twin Cities! I plan to have guest hosts and we’ll cover everything from breweries to biking to entertainment. My goal is to foster community and for people to share information on the wonderful things we have here."
Instameets are basically a meetup of Instagram lovers who choose a place and take photos to be posted on Instagram. It's a great way to meet people with similar interests and get some great shots!
One week from today! Reminder! Instameet hosted by @thesoapfactory and @commonroots on August 14th - no RSVP required! Building dates back to 1882 and is a very cool space filled with remains of the buildings past. Instameet will go from 6-8pm - so mark your calendar now! #soapfactory_mnmeet A photo posted by Rachel E (@rachel_six12) on Aug 7, 2015 at 5:43am PDT
Getting involved in the Minnstagram (Minnesota + Instagram) community is one of the best decisions I’ve made as a blogger! I’m not only able to grow my network with other creatives, I’ve been presented with lots of opportunities to explore different parts of Minnesota and really find inspiration behind the lens that transfers to inspiration in my blog and writing as well. I’ve started to see the world through a different perspective and this has led to many unique posts that I never would’ve considered before. Plus, people I have become friends with through Minnstagram have been incredibly supportive of the various endeavors I’ve begun, with lots of talk about collaboration and ideas for the future.-Kati, from Constantly Seeking Wonder and her Instagram Page

The MNBloggerBash was created as a space for Bloggers to get together and have some fun! Each month will be something different and the goal is to share some of the local businesses and non-profits with Bloggers, Creatives and Influencers. The first one was a gathering on Grand Avenue at Garden of Eden and in October we are going to the Haunting Experience.
Bloggers always want to get together to chat and catch up. This gives us the space to do so and to provide awareness for a small local business that you might not know of yet. The MNBloggerBash events are great to attend for both beginning and experienced Bloggers.-MPLSGOSSIPGIRL, creator of MNBloggerBash.
