Looking for a step-by-step tutorial on how to use Styled Stock Photography to grow your brand, blog or business. Look no further!
I decided to write this blog post after receiving a question on my Etsy shop about how Styled Stock Photography works. So I thought I was due to explain myself and my process!
Styled Stock Photography: Definition: A styled image that is sold by a photographer that can be used by brands and bloggers as Blog Images, Blog Headers, Branding Images and Brand Headers (or for a multitude of other things). Many times these are desk and office images with different types of objects and products, but can serve niches as well.
HOW TO SET UP A STYLED STOCK PHOTOGRAPHY IMAGE
Step 1. Choose your image & click Purchase.
STEP #2. Pay for the image and it will be sent to you via email in .jpeg form. The watermark and logo will be taken off.
STEP #3. Decide what text or design to put on the image. Most people write the name of their blog post (you can also add your logo)
STEP #4. Figure out which fonts you want to use. I wrote a post about my favorite free fonts if you need somewhere to star. They are very easy to install on your computer.
STEP #5. Use a site like picmonkey.com or canva.com (Click edit, upload the photo then add text (TT) and download the image to save it) I use Picasa to add text (which sadly you cannot download anymore) You can also use preview on a mac to add text (click annotate). There are so many options on your phone as well. I use the font "Ink Blossoms" which I bought as part of set, but you can get on CREATIVE MARKET.
STEP #6. SAVE THE IMAGE WITH THE NEW TEXT WRITTEN AND UPLOAD TO YOUR BLOG OR WEBSITE!
3 REASONS TO USE STYLED STOCK PHOTOGRAPHY WITH YOUR BRAND OR BLOG
#1. CREATE A SENSE OF CONSISTENCY IN BRANDING.
Choosing a font or a logo design is important, so people know before they even click the image that it is your blog! Adding that to a styled photo can bring in not just readers, but loyal readers.
#2. IT’S CHEAPER THAN MAKING YOUR OWN!
If you added up the pricing of all the stuff in the image above, it cost me well over $150. Unless you too are starting your own Styled Stock Photography shop, you will need to spend lots of $$ and time to get all the same images. Plus, you are busy and don’t have enough time! Let me help you out!
If you have a beautiful images, the likelihood that your blog will be read will increase significantly. Utilizing visual tools like Instagram and Pinterest, you can find readers quickly, as the image attracts people like bugs to a light. I much prefer blogs that have beautiful images throughout. It really shows me that they care about aesthetics (something that is also important to me!).
